- Identify and select appropriate makeup products and tools for different purposes.
- Demonstrate proper usage, sanitation, and maintenance of makeup products and tools.
- Understand the responsibilities and professional ethics of a makeup artist.
- Develop client communication and consultation skills.
- Apply eco-friendly practices in makeup application and removal.
- Design and apply makeup looks suitable for daily wear and various personal styles.
- Design and apply glamorous makeup looks for special occasions and events.
- Incorporate dramatic elements such as bold lips, smokey eyes, and contouring.
- Design and apply makeup looks tailored to bridal clients, addressing unique considerations for wedding makeup, including longevity and photography.
- Understand the specific requirements and expectations of editorial and commercial makeup.
How long will this course take me?
- This course will take you roughly 80-100 hours to complete. This includes videos, written materials, discussions, activities, study time, and live events.
- Most of our students dedicate 1-2 hours per week to study around work and other commitments. At the beginning of your course, we'll provide a tailored study plan to guide you through the material at a pace that suits your schedule, whether you aim to complete the course in 3, 6, or 12 months. You will have a full 12 months of access from the date of enrolment.

Clare brings over a decade of diverse expertise as a beauty therapist and salon manager. As the director of Chantilly Skin & Brow in New South Wales, she oversees multiple salons, trains staff, and develops various treatments. Clare is dedicated to educating and inspiring budding beauty professionals to achieve their goals.
As you go through the course, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to connect with your mentor:
- Live events and workshops: Attend regular sessions to learn from your mentor and inspiring industry guests.
- Feedback on your work: Receive detailed feedback on your activities and assignments to help you grow and improve.
- One-on-one session: At the end of the course, you can book a one-on-one session with your mentor to ask any final questions and receive advice on the next steps.
Activities & Assignments
What activities/assignments do I need to complete?
During your course, you’ll complete various hands-on activities and projects where you can put your new skills into practice and receive valuable feedback from your industry mentor.
- Knowledge Checks. After each lesson, you’ll complete a Knowledge Check—a short quiz that assesses your understanding of the key concepts presented in the lesson.
- Activity: Matching Foundation: In this activity, you’ll put your knowledge from Lesson 2 into practice by learning how to match foundation formulas and finishes to your skin type, tone and undertones.
- Final Project: Design a Makeup Look: In this final project, you’ll plan a specific makeup look for a client and create a mood board and makeup plan that shows the inspiration behind the look and the techniques you plan to use. You’ll then execute the final look on your client and write a reflection about your experience completing the project.
As part of your assignments, you must submit photos of your work for your mentor to review and provide feedback. Your photos must be high quality and accurately represent your work to enable your mentor to provide the most helpful feedback possible.
