Course Overview

This short course is your step-by-step guide to nail care, design, and artistry. Developed in collaboration with practising nail technicians and beauty professionals, it offers foundational skills in nail health, nail enhancements, polish techniques, and nail art design. Whether you want to refine your own skills, offer nail services informally, or prepare for a deeper study pathway, this course provides the knowledge and confidence to get started.

What does this course teach me?
By the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • Identify nail anatomy, nail health conditions, and proper hygiene practices.
  • Apply nail preparation techniques for safe and lasting results.
    Perform polish application methods, including base, colour, and top coats.
  • Explore nail enhancements such as tips, overlays, and sculpting basics.
  • Create simple and advanced nail art designs using tools, textures, and colour theory.
    Recognise safe removal processes for polish and enhancements.
  • Develop confidence in applying professional standards of care and presentation.

How long will this course take me?
This course will take you roughly 30–40 hours to complete. This includes videos, written materials, activities, and study time.

Most of our students dedicate 1–2 hours per week to study around work and other commitments. You will have a full 12 months of access from the date of enrolment.

Activities & Assignments
During your course, you’ll complete various activities to practise and apply your new skills:

  • Knowledge Checks. After each lesson, complete a short quiz to assess your understanding of the core concepts.
  • Activity: Polish Application Practice. Practise applying polish with precision, experimenting with different finishes and colours.
  • Activity: Nail Art Design Challenge. Use inspiration boards, patterns, and colour combinations to create your own nail art looks.
  • Activity: Client Care Reflection. Reflect on how you would apply professional hygiene, consultation, and aftercare in different client scenarios.
