Course Overview 

This course will provide a strong foundation in nail health and theory, professional manicure techniques, and nail enhancement treatments, including gel, acrylic, and dip powder.

What does this course teach me? 

Upon completing this course, you’ll be able to: 

  • Identify the different nail treatments and their purposes
  • Demonstrate knowledge of nail products and tools used in nail technology and select and use suitable products and tools for nail enhancement applications.
  • Conduct effective client consultations to determine their needs and preferences.
  • Apply proper hygiene and infection control practices during nail services
  • Understand legal considerations related to providing nail services
  • Identify and describe the anatomy and function of nails
  • Recognise common nail diseases and disorders and promote nail health through proper care and maintenance
  • Perform cuticle care techniques safely and effectively
  • Demonstrate nail filing and shaping techniques to achieve desired results
  • Apply hand massage techniques for relaxation and improved circulation
  • Apply regular nail polish accurately and neatly and create basic nail art designs such as French tips, polka dots, and stripes
  • Apply and remove gel polish (Shellac) accurately and with proper technique
  • Safely and effectively use an E-File in nail enhancement treatments. 
  • Apply, refill, and remove acrylic, gel, and dip powder with proper technique. This includes applying acrylic overlays and using artificial nail tips and forms to create customised extensions.

How long will this course take me?

This course will take you roughly 80-100 hours to complete. This includes videos, written materials, discussions, activities, study time, and live events. 

Most of our students dedicate 1-2 hours per week to study around work and other commitments. At the beginning of your course, we'll provide a tailored study plan to guide you through the material at a pace that suits your schedule, whether you aim to complete the course in 3, 6, or 12 months. You will have a full 12 months of access from the date of enrolment.

Industry Mentor

Your industry mentor for this course is nail professional Nicole Moore.

Nicole runs a successful beauty salon in Melbourne called Made Gorgeous. She is also an Education Ambassador for CND™ and facilitates countless online and face-to-face classes, educating beauty professionals on the latest products and techniques. 

As you go through the course, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to connect with your mentor:

  • Live events and workshops: Attend regular sessions to learn from your mentor and inspiring industry guests.  
  • Feedback on your work: Receive detailed feedback on your activities and assignments to help you grow and improve.
  • One-on-one session: At the end of the course, you can book a one-on-one session with your mentor to ask any final questions and receive advice on the next steps.

Activities & Assignments

What activities/assignments do I need to complete?

During your course, you’ll complete various hands-on activities and projects where you can put your new skills into practice and receive valuable feedback from your industry mentor.

  • Knowledge Checks. After each lesson, you’ll complete a Knowledge Check—a short quiz that assesses your understanding of the key concepts presented in the lesson.
  • Activity: Perform a Manicure. In this activity, you’ll perform a manicure on a volunteer (e.g., a friend or family member). This is an excellent opportunity to test your manicure and nail care knowledge and receive valuable feedback from your industry mentor.
  • Activity: Perform a Nail Enhancement. This hands-on activity requires you to perform one nail enhancement treatment on a volunteer (e.g., a friend or family member) from the following list:
    • Gel polish
    • Builder gel
    • Hard gel
    • Acrylic
    • Dip powder
